SL will not help I am afraid if market is halted=worst case scenario. SL will be taken anyway because of massive spread/spikes or there are no buyers or sellers for your SL order=no fill/this will be the official explanation from your broker. Avoid overnight trades anyway (weekend-holidays) with a SL just an idea if you are afraid. Otherwise buy a put/call option on your instrument as protection this, is a SL different style but always respected (the seller of the option) .
