I'm fully committed to fixing this. I'm going to shift my focus to identifying HTF support/resistance and waiting for those second-dot entries on pullbacks instead.

I am open to any advice, critiques, or resources you think would help speed up my learning journey. Thanks for pointing me back in the right direction
Welcome to the number 1 and most difficult problem all traders face, not just all traders but as far as I’m aware (I’ve not looked at the topic for years) but even bots haven’t solved it.

The problem of correctly identifying the start of a trend. It was always the case that trend following bots could make money in a trend then lose it all when the trend changed to a range. And the same vice-a-versa for range trading bots when the range transformed into a trend.

XARD has tried very hard to present a package of indicators for beginners to get into trends and for which the repainting signals work fine so long as they are used with the correct chart pattern.

That chart pattern is a trending pattern as defined by higher highs and higher lows (uptrend) but the signals are misleading if applied to any other chart formation (ranging, sidaways movement).

Trends and ranges are partners, one leads to the other and back again. Take a look at Wyckoff theory, between the accumulation and distribution phases are the trends (markup and markdown), also known as range expansions where price travels from one range to another.

Ranges are where traders are doing swaps and everyone one is happy, when there is no longer an equal number of buyers and sellers at that price range price must move on to find a new range. That’s where retail speculators (you) need to jump in.
