Re: News

December 12 is the 15th anniversary of the disappearance of Satoshi Nakamoto.

When discussing technical issues, Nakamoto never disclosed personal information,[7] but sometimes spoke about banking and fractional reserve banking. In 2012, Nakamoto claimed in his P2P Foundation profile that he was 37 years old and lived in Japan;[8] some suggested that he was unlikely to be Japanese due to the fact that he was fluent in English.[7]

Some believe that a whole group of people may be hiding under the name Nakamoto. Dan Kaminsky, a security specialist who studied the Bitcoin code,[22] said that Nakamoto was either a "group of people" or a "genius";[23] Laszlo Hanyets, a developer who corresponded with Nakamoto via email, had the impression that the code was too well thought out for one person;[7] Andresen said of Nakamoto's code, "He was a brilliant programmer, but with quirks."[24]

The use of the British version of English both in comments to the source code and in forum posts, for example, expressions such as "damn difficult", terms such as "flat" and "mathematical", as well as the spelling "gray" and "colored"[17], led to the assumption that that Nakamoto, or at least one person from the consortium posing as him, was from the Commonwealth countries. [7][11][23] The mention of the London Times newspaper in the first block of bitcoin led some to think about a special interest in the British government.[17][25]

Stefan Thomas, a Swiss software engineer and active member of the community, mapped the timestamps of each of Nakamoto's posts on the Bitcoin forum (over 500 posts); the graph showed a sharp decrease in activity to almost zero between 5 a.m. and 11 a.m. GMT (from midnight to 6 a.m. Eastern Standard Time). This happened between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Japanese Standard Time, indicating an unusual sleep pattern for a person living in Japan. Since this pattern persisted even on Saturdays and Sundays, it can be assumed that Nakamoto was constantly asleep at this time.[7]
