it made me think, and now I don't use VPS anymore

first they are pricey, second they crash / restart, maybe even more than a regular PC. It used to make me mad
if you rent a special "Forex" VPS you won't have any CPU power for a high price, it's not a good deal

I'm not currently trading on a real account but if one day I do, I would use this setup :

First You need a laptop and not a tower PC : because if power is cut in your area, you'll still be online for a while, thanks to the battery

secondly use a "Battery Backup and Surge Protector" to connect the laptop, that way if the battery runs out, you still got the power of the surge protector/power bank.

but what if power gets out, won't internet as well ?
YES and that's why you need to create a virtual WIFI router using your Mobile phone.
You have the possibility to connect via Wifi through your phone, look into it.

the computers are set to connect to available wifi spots if one goes out, and if you connected already ONCE
just connect your phone to the surge protector as well.
that way :
1) electricity goes out : no problem you still got the laptop, the surge protector and the telephone batteries
2) the smartphone takes the relay for your internet if internet is down in your area

it should last a while until power is on again.

also cost-wise, a laptop is not that expensive, compared to monthly payments.

you could ultimately setup an alarm if power goes out to wake you up to manage your positions manually if needed
