South Africa has said it will grant diplomatic immunity to participants in two meetings of officials from the BRICS group as it prepares to host Russian President Vladimir Putin at the summit in August.

“This is a standard grant of immunities that we do for all international conferences and summits held in South Africa, regardless of the level of participation,” the South African Department of International Relations and Cooperation said.
