I was against decompiled indicators for while

Then I realized that there are people that just want the EA code to see what's inside, before buying the real deal

There are so many scams that I don't find that revolting.

next this is more outrageous, but I find no flaws in the logic:
for those that would not have bought the EA anyway, there is no bad, they make money, that's a plus, and the author would not have money in both instances

(1) where the EA is not bought because of lack of money
(2) the EA is not bought but used.

some people think that knowledge should be free, like for some scientific papers, there is a big market
What's your view on the subject ?

I have a simple position, commercial EAs do not work.

If an EA was really profitable, none would sell it, but would invest time in using it to make money.
I am against decompiled/ cracked stuff, if you want something that has a logic, just design and test your own strategy and hire a coder. So you'll have the code.

My 2 cents.

I don’t believe in ea’s because if something slips up you wont know about it until too late and if you trade manual you have better chances of missing any kind of slip ups, i think ea’s should only give signals but let you decide the trade

I'm against it because I've seen how people decompile, rename and even sell off open source and decompiled technical indicators as their own.

Two famous examples of open source (not decompipled) codes being renamed and sold is:

Rahul Mohindrar's "Oscillator" (RMO) which is actually the Rainbow Oscillator
The MACD "BB Dots T3 pro trader" which was Mladen's indicator being sold for $25,000

But back to the whole "decompiled" subject, now, if everyone was code-minded and white-hat like you Jeff (who often shares a lot of great codes) I wouldn't be so against it. And if the creator of a "closed" source code died or disappeared I understand the need to adjust things etc.

But this hardly ever happens.

Decompiling is almost 100% always for malicious reasons and never for ethical reasons the way I see it.

Do you agree?

Hi guys,

Just reading this topic. As i am new around here, and as new to coding, I just want to make sure i didn’t violate any rule. As far as I have read, asking for mq4 sources is, obviously, not done. However, I did edit some mq4 files (and shared it back to the community), like, for instance:

For me, it is just some fun stuff after trading, playing around with available codes and see if I can understand the fascinating world of coding by adjusting it to my liking. But I do not intend to offend anyone or violate any rule. Hope this is ok, and if not, please let me know and i will delete or add more details about the original author of any uploaded/adjusted code!

That is awesome haha............ exactly what the coders want you to do with a mq4 is open it, learn from and edit to make them better but please do share too.......... which you do and you are a good guy

True. Well, as far as I have discovered in the past 2 MT4 months, there is plenty good free stuff already that could be an asset to a lot of traders. No more need to pay loads of developing/subscription fees for customized algo’s (if basic transaction and price data is enough)

Thanks man, really appreciate it! This coding stuff is super new to me, but I get much fun out of it when something finally works. Like reaching your daily target in 10 minutes or so

Reason I dont like decompiled code is because its scrambled and I cant even learn how to code off it..... it just feels dirtied
