Did some analysis to check which news created the most volatility in USD. Actually wanted to build an indicator based on this but currently lacking the knowledge. So reverted back to excel. Pie chart showing the results is below.

I believe phase ranges from -100 to 100 (slow to fast) effecting the JMA speed.
Step size provides a threshold for a change to happen thus filtering signals.
