Some very good points here, number 2 was the first hard lesson for me!
For me learning Risk Management above all else.'Mastering' 'Understanding' was the break through lesson for me and is what has kept me in the Forex markets!

The best what i`ve learned is to not risk what i can`t afford to lose. I you follow this everything is fine and easier.

I have learnt to keep a control on my emotions and how to well establish a forex strategy.

It's good that you have, because it's been quite a bit longer than 5 years for me and I am still terribly anxious when I trade.

True its the unrealistic goals and expectations that those IG traders well fraudsters and charlatans promoted that really do our industry harm people think your either a scammer or fresh meat !!

Do you think there is any benefit to possibly discussing that with a psychiatrist to see if you can isolate why that might be and have some direction with mental training?

Good advice. I've seen a lot of new traders ask for opinions about getting a loan to get started, definitely think investing money you don't have is a terrible idea.

100% I think this is a horrible idea. Especially when the loss rate is so high in forex. Quick route to getting into trouble. With the number of prop firm options around now, I don't think borrowing money is the way forward.
