18 people arrested in connection to online forex scam

Eighteen people were arrested as the result of an international anti-fraud investigation started by German authorities. The investigation centered around online scammers that ran a number of fake forex websites that included FXCMarkets, FXOptexGroup, Swissinv24, CFXPoint, IForex24, CodexFX, HBCMarket, CapitalGFX, Investment Department, Tradingmarkets24 and Brokermasters.
According to German prosecutors from the city of Bamberg, where the investigation began, 18 people were apprehended in Kosovo after a large police operation that lead to the search of 17 different sites, including seven call centers.
The fraudulent sites have been operating for quite a while now – since 2017 and their main targets were EU citizens.
Authorities confiscated 160,000 EUR and seven luxury vehicles. All the suspects were between 22 and 45 years old.
