Great thread, it is easier to learn how the market behaves and speed up your progress if you just focus on the price movement. I believe that the price trading encourages the right trading perspective

Crucial for the success of a trader is to recognize in with phase a given market is - range or trend. When the phase changes, a trader must be able to switch the strategy. An strategy or EA works for a certain time and then looses most of the money back to the market? I guess, we all know that. It's because you need different strategies for different market phases. Most traders concentrate only on trends or ranges. Looking for or waiting for trend phases can last a lot of time and cost many nerves. You can make more and quicker profit in range markets than in trends.

The only reliable approach to distinguish market phases is price action, IMO. It needs some time to learn how the market behaves, but it's absolutely worth it.
